Documents Required
Documents are to be provided for the Bride, Groom, Representative of the Bride (Wali) & 2 Male Witnesses:
- Proof of I.D. (Passport or Birth Certificate)
- Proof of Address (Drivers License/Bank Statement/Utility Bill)
- Divorce Deed (only applicable for prospective bride/groom that have been previously married)
All information provided MUST be true otherwise this may invalidate the Nikah
Please note that although LNS provides a Nikah certificate, it is not registered to solemnise marriages in accordance with English Law. It is important to know that a Nikah performed in the UK is not considered a valid marriage under English Law, and therefore does not provide any enforceable legal marital rights. This is particularly important to consider in cases of marriage breakdown or death. Therefore, we strongly advise that a civil marriage is conducted in a register office in accordance with English Law, either immediately after the Nikah ceremony, to safeguard the enforceable rights of both parties.
